KING FELIPE OF SPAIN & QUEEN LETIZIA WELCOME CHILE’S PRESIDENT

THE BRITISH ROYAL FAMILY’S OFFICIAL WELCOME FOR THE PRESIDENT OF SINGAPORE

The British royal family, headed by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, welcomed President Tony Tan Keng Yam and his wife, Mary, on their state visit to the United Kingdom that commenced on October 21, 2014.  Also in attendance at the official ceremonial welcome at Horse Guards Parade were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who had paid a courtesy call to the President and Mrs. Keng at London’s Royal Garden Hotel.  The presence of the Duchess of Cambridge marked the first time she has appeared in an official public function since the announcement that she is expecting her second child.  Later in the evening, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh hosted a glittering banquet at Buckingham Palace and were joined by the Duke of York, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex, among others.  Photos by Bauer Griffin and Getty Images.

 

 

QUEEN ELIZABETH & THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH VISIT THE TOWER OF LONDON

Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh paid a visit to the Tower of London on October 16, 2014 where they walked amidst the ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’ poppy installation.  The striking poppy exhibit consisting of over 800,000 ceramic poppies was installed to memorialize the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.  The last of the poppies will be installed on November 11, the anniversary of the Armistice of the war.  The poppies will be sold to support veterans’ charities.  Photos by Getty Images.

SPANISH ROYALS VISIT THEIR DUTCH COUNTERPARTS

King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia visited their Dutch counterparts, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima in The Hague on October 15, 2014.  King Felipe and Queen Letizia were in The Netherlands for an official one day visit.  At Noordeinde Palace, the royal couple joined their hosts and posed for official photographs.  Queens Letizia and Maxima both dressed in red, with Queen Maxima in a dark burgundy peplum outfit and matching hat and gloves, while Queen Letizia chose a simply cut dress in bright red.  Both royal couples recently ascended the thrones of their respective countries, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, in April 2013, and King Felipe and Queen Letizia in June 2014.  Photos by Getty Images.
