According to The Ebony Horse Club, they use “horses to improve the education, life skills and aspirations of disadvantaged young people, growing up in Brixton, South London. We teach riding and horse care, take groups to outdoor events, in and outside of London, and mentor children experiencing significant challenges in their everyday lives.” The group’s patron is the Duchess of Cornwall. Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was christened on October 23, 2013 by the Archbishop of Canterbury at the Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace, London. In a small family affair, the infant prince was christened with water from the River Jordan and was dressed in a replica of the gown worn by royal babies since the 1840s. In attendance were Prince George’s parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge; Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh; The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall; Prince Harry; the Middleton family; and the godparents and their respective spouses. King Juan Carlos was unable to preside over Spain’s National Day Military parade as he continues to recuperate from a hip operation. Instead, the king’s son, Prince Felipe, took his father’s place this year. He was accompanied by his wife, Princess Letizia. The event took place in Madrid on October 12, 2013. Buckingham Palace in London was the sight of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games Baton relay launch ceremony which took place on October 9, 2013. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip attended the event. After the baton was presented to the queen, the relay continued on, with stops scheduled for each of the seventy nations and territories that will be competing in the Commonwealth Games to be held in 2014 in Glasgow.
