PRINCE ALBERT II AND PRINCESS CHARLENE OF MONACO AT FESTIVITIES TO MARK MONACO’S PATRON, SAINT DEVOTE
Prince Albert II of Monaco and his wife, Princess Charlene, attended festivities to mark Monaco’s patron saint, St. Devote, martyred during during the persecutions of Diocletian and Maximian. Her body was placed on a boat bound for Africa but landed in present day Monaco, where a chapel was built in her honor. Her feast day is January 27. Princess Marie and her husband, Prince Joachim of Denmark, presented to the press at Rigshospitalet on January 27, 2012 in Copenhagen, Denmark, their newborn baby daughter. The unnamed baby princess is the eight grandchild of Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II who this year is celebrating her 40th year on the throne. The baby girl is the second child for Marie and Joachim who have a son, Henrik. Prince Joachim also has two older sons from his former wife, Alexandra. Princess Marie, the wife of Prince Joachim of Denmark (second son of Queen Margrethe II) gave birth on January 24, 2012 to a baby girl weighing in at 6.45 pounds at Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet. Prince Joachim, 42, and Marie, 35, are the parents of Prince Henrik, who will turn two years old in May. Prince Joachim is also the father of two sons, Prince Nikolai, 12 and Prince Felix, 9, from his first wife, the former Alexandra Manley. The new baby girl is 10th in line to the Danish throne.
