Prince Felix of Luxembourg (29), second son of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, married Claire Lademacher (28) on September 21, 2013. The couple, who have known each other for several years, married earlier this week in a civil ceremony. The religious ceremony took place at the Basilica Sainte Marie-Madeleine in Saint Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume in Provence presided by the Archbishop of Luxembourg. The Countess of Wessex is on a visit to India. On September 18, 2013 she was in Kolkata where she lent her support for the charity ORBIS, dedicated to saving eye sight in developing countries. The countess was at the ITC Sonar Kolkata Hotel to watch schoolchildren singing. She also visited medical volunteers and patients undergoing surgery at the the ORBIS Flying Opthalmic Eye Hospital. King Juan Carlos of Spain and Queen Sofia welcomed King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands and Queen Maxima to Spain on September 18, 2013. Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia were at hand at Torrejon Military Base in Madrid to greet the Dutch royal couple upon their arrival. The couple arrived at the Ridderzaal in The Hague, Netherlands, having traveled in an ornate carriage. At the Ridderzaal, King Willem-Alexander addressed Parliament in a speech from the throne outlining the government’s policies for the coming session. Prince Felix is the second son of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. Princess Claire was educated in the U.S., Germany, Switzerland, and France and is currently pursuing a doctorate in bioethics at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome. A Te Deum Service of Thanksgiving was held at the chapel of The Royal Palace in Stockholm on September 13, 2013. In attendance were the King and Queen Silvia; their children, Crown Princess Victoria, her her husband, Prince Daniel, with their daughter, Princess Estelle; Prince Carl Philip; Princess Madeleine and her husband, Chris O’Neill. King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway as well as Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark were also present. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a gala dinner and awards ceremony for the Tusk Foundation on September 12, 2013. The duke is patron of the charity which focuses on wildlife conservation in Africa. The event marks the first time that the couple have appeared at a formal evening function since becoming the parents in July of Prince George. William admitted that it was the first evening outing for him and Catherine since George’s birth and joked that no one should be surprised if they’re caught checking their cell phones to see that all was fine back home. William also joked that baby Prince George “has a voice to match any lion’s roar!” The glamorous event took place at The Royal Society in London.
