On Day 4 of the 2012 London Olympic Games (July 31, 2012) Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter, Zara Phillips, along with her teammates: Mary King, William Fox Pitt, Kristina Cook and Nicola Wilson, won the silver medal in the Eventing Team Jumping Final Equestrian. The medals were awarded at Greenwich Park in London, England where the Equestrian events have been taking place. Zara’s mother, the Princess Royal, herself an Olympian, was on hand to see her daughter win the silver medal team competition. On Day 3 (July 30, 2012) of the London Olympics, Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter, Zara Phillips, a member of the British Olympic Equestrian team, participated in the Cross Country portion of the Equestrian eventing, riding High Kingdom at historic Greenwich Park. Zara completed the dangerous course designed to challenge horse and rider in 9 minutes 55 seconds, well within the 10 minute 3 second time limit. Zara is quoted as saying of High Kingdom, “He did amazing.” She was cheered on by thousands of spectators including Zara’s mother, the Princess Royal; the Duchess of Cornwall; the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge; Prince Harry; and the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie of York.
