THE SWEDISH ROYAL FAMILY PRESIDE OVER THE 2014 NOBEL PRIZE CEREMONY

On December 20, 2014, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden presided over the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden, a yearly highlight in the calendar of the Swedish royal court.  Also present were other members of the royal family including Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel; Princess Madeleine, and her husband, Chris O’Neill; Prince Carl Philip and his fiancee, Sofia Hellqvist.  Prizes in the field of Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, and Economics were awarded by the king to this year’s laureates.  The awards ceremony took place at the Stockholm Concert Hall and the Nobel Banquet that followed for thirteen hundred guests took place in the Stockholm City Hall.  Photos by Getty Images.
