The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, accompanied by Prince Harry, visited the Tower of London on August 5, 2014 where an impressive sea of red ceramic poppies have been planted in the dry moat to mark the centenary of Britain’s entry in the First World War. Over 880,000 poppies were planted to represent British and colonial soldiers who were killed during the conflict. The duke and duchess as well as Prince Harry each planted a poppy. The ceramic poppies will eventually be sold and the proceeds will be given to various Armed Forces charities. Photos by Getty Images.
