PRINCE FELIPE OF SPAIN’S LATEST ENGAGEMENTS

In what is considered to be the last few weeks in his role as heir to the throne, Prince Felipe of Spain has been busy carrying out official engagements since the announcement made by his father, King Juan Carlos, that he will be abdicating in favor of his son.  On June 3, 2014, the day after the king announced his intention to relinquish the throne, he and Prince Felipe appeared together at the monastery of El Escorial to celebrate the bicentenary of the San Hermenegildo Order.   And on June 4, Prince Felipe and his wife, Princess Letizia, attended the Prince de Viana awards at the San Salvador de Leyre Monastery in Navarra, marking the first time the couple has appeared in an official capacity since the announcement that they are shortly to ascend the Spanish throne.  Photos by Getty Images.
