The Netherlands was awash in orange as the nation celebrated its first King’s Day in over 120 years. Previously the nation had celebrated Queen’s Day during the reigns of Queens Wilhelmina, Juliana, and Beatrix. As part of the festivities King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his wife, Queen Maxima, visited a part of their kingdom, this year being the fishing village of De Rijp. The king and queen were also in Amsterdam where they were joined by members of the royal family including their daughters, the Princesses Catharina-Amalia, Alexia, and Ariane. Photos by Getty Images.
