QUEEN ELIZABETH II AT BLACKBURN CATHEDRAL FOR MAUNDY THURSDAY

Queen Elizabeth II was at Blackburn Cathedral in Lancashire for the 2014 Royal Maundy Service.  The queen handed out Maundy coins to 88 elderly men and 88 elderly women (the number 88 representing the monarch’s age).  The recipients are chosen for their service to the community and Church.  Yeomen of the Guard, who add color to the ceremony, carry the purses that contain the money.  Photos by Getty Images.
