As the reign of King Albert II of the Belgians draws to its close, the king and his wife, Queen Paola, visited Liege, Belgium on July 19, 2013. For many years the couple was known by their title, Prince and Princess of Liege. A crowd of thousands greeted the couple and thanked them for their service. On July 20, King Albert and Queen Paola, joined by members of the Belgian royal family, including their children, Prince Philippe, Princess Astrid, and Prince Laurent, and their respective spouses, as well as Queen Fabiola, attended a concert in Brussels on the eve of King Albert’s abdication.
