QUEEN ELIZABETH II AND THE 2013 TROOPING THE COLOUR

The annual Trooping the Colour took place on June 15, 2013 in London with the British royal family out in force for the colorful military spectacle that officially celebrates the sovereign’s birthday.  This year’s Trooping saw the absence of the Duke of Edinburgh who is recuperating from abdominal surgery.  Queen Elizabeth II, dressed in bright blue, was accompanied this year by her cousin, the Duke of Kent.  The Life Guards andBlues and Royals, resplendent in the gold and silver breastplates and plumed helmets, accompanied the queen in procession.   At Horse Guards, the Colour paraded was that of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.  This is one of the last times the Duchess of Cambridge appears at an official function before giving birth in July.  Photos by Bauer Griffin, PacificCoastNews, and Getty Images.
