Prince Philip has been admitted to a London hospital for what is described as “abdominal investigations.” The operation will be conducted under general anesthetic and the prince will remain hospitalized for two weeks which would mean that he is expected to celebrate his 92nd birthday there. The surgery has been planned in advance. Prior to his hospitalization, the Duke of Edinburgh, who appeared healthy and in good spirits, accompanied the queen at a garden party at Buckingham Palace on June 6th. The queen also presented the Duke of Edinburgh that same day in the presence of the New Zealand High Commissioner, at Buckingham Palace, the Order of New Zealand, that nation’s highest order. Queen Elizabeth also visited the new BBC Broadcasting House on June 7, 2013. Photos by Getty Images.
