BEATRIX, QUEEN OF THE NETHERLANDS FROM 1980 TO 2013

With the impending abdication of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands on April 30, 2013, here are some photographs of the queen through the years.  Born in 1938, the eldest child of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and Prince Bernhard, Beatrix lived for a while in Britain and Canada, where her family was in exile during the Nazi occupation of her country in World War II.  In 1966, she married a West German diplomat, Claus von Amsberg.  The couple had three sons, the eldest of whom, Prince Willem-Alexander, succeeds his mother upon her abdication.  Photos by Corbis.
