The solemn and dignified funeral of Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s longest-serving prime minister of the twentieth century (1979-1990), took place on April 17, 2013 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. The ceremonial funeral was attended by numerous dignitaries from 170 countries, including Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. Some 250,000 lined the streets to pay their last respects to one of the most significant leaders of the past century. The funeral had the ceremony and pomp that was last seen at the funeral of the Queen Mother in 2002. From the Tower of London, gun fires were saluted, and members of the armed forces in full ceremonial dress, lined the route. Photos by PacificCoastNews, Bauer Griffin, and Getty Images.
