Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, in one of her last public appearances as reigning monarch, was in Utrecht on April 11, 2013 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Utrecht. The series of peace treaties ended the War of the Spanish Succession and marked a turning point in history. Queen Beatrix, accompanied by her eldest son and heir, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, and his wife, Princess Maxima, attended a concert while in Utrecht at the Domkerk. Queen Beatrix had announced earlier this year that she will be abdicating in favor of her son, Willem-Alexander on April 30th this year. Photos by Getty Images.
