THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE IN AYRSHIRE AND BARROW-IN-FURNESS

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who also have the Scottish titles of Earl and Countess of Strathearn, continued their visit to Scotland with a stop in Ayrshire on April 5, 2013.  The couple, along with the Prince of Wales (who holds the Scottish title of Duke of Rothesay), visited Dumfries House.  Prince Charles has been a supporter since 2007 of a regeneration project connected to the stately Palladian Dumfries House, built in the 1750s.  The Duke and Duchess also traveled to Barrow-in-Furness where they visited the the Astute-class Submarine Building at BAE Systems and met with the crew members of Artful and and their families.  Prince William is Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Navy Submarine Service.  While in Barrow-in-Furness, William and Catherine learned about the new Astute Class of nuclear-powered submarines that’s being constructed for Britain’s Royal Navy by BAE Systems.  Photos by Bauer Griffin and Getty Images.
