THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE VISIT THE IRISH GUARDS ON ST. PATRICK’S DAY

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the 1st Battalion Irish Guards on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2013.  The Duke of Cambridge is Colonel of the Regiment.  The event took place at Aldershot Barracks, Aldershot, UK.  One of the highlights of the event took place when the Duchess of Cambridge presented sprigs of shamrock, the last of which went to the regimental mascot, the Irish wolfhound, Domhnall.  Catherine caught her heel on a grate during the event and had to hold on to her husband when she tried to free her heel.  Last year, the duchess took an obligatory sip of sherry when she attended the event, but due to her pregnancy, she declined to do so this year.  Photos by Getty Images.
