The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were in New Zealand on November 11 and 12, 2012 as part of the Diamond Jubilee Tour of Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand. On November 11, the royal couple attended an Armistice Day Commemoration at the Auckland War Memorial. On November 12 the couple was in Auckland where they attended a production of Hairy Maclary and met the cast backstage at the Bruce Mason Theatre. There was a visit to the New Zealand Coastguard headquarters and to the Milennium Sports Institute to meet with the New Zealand Silver Ferns netball team as well children in kayaks and swimmers, along with members of the public. The Duchess of Cornwall also paid a visit to the schoolchildren of East Tamaki Primary School. Prince Charles also tried his hand at making a wool rug during his visit to Auckland.
