ROYALTY AT THE OPENING OF THE 2012 LONDON OLYMPIC GAMES

Royals were in attendance among a host of VIP guests at the opening of the 2012 London Olympic Games.  Queen Elizabeth II made a surprise appearance in a vignette with the actor Daniel Craig, playing James Bond.   The queen declared the games officially open, but before doing so audiences worldwide were treated to a scene showing Agent 007, James Bond arriving in Buckingham Palace, prepared to escort an important personage to the Olympic ceremony.   To the surprise of many, the queen turned from her desk chair and said, “Good evening, Mr. Bond.”  Two of the queen’s corgis also participated in the short scene that was shot at Buckingham Palace this spring.  Among the royals in attendance at the opening ceremony were the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.  Photos by Getty Images.
