THE DIAMOND JUBILEE PAGEANT ON THE RIVER THAMES IN HONOR OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II

The Diamond Jubilee Thames River Pageant took place on  June 3, 2012 in London.  It was the largest pageant held on the River Thames in 350 years.  For seven miles, a flotilla of a thousand boats, barges, kayaks, sailing ships and Dunkirk boats sailed past a million people lining the banks of the river.   The Spirit of Chartwell was transformed into the royal barge and lavishly decorated for the occasion.  On board were Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.   The belfry barge and the Gloriana, a magnificent rowbarge, led the armada.  Photos by Getty Images.
