QUEEN ELIZABETH II ATTENDS THE EPSOM DERBY ON HER DIAMOND JUBILEE WEEKEND

Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, attended the Epsom Derby at Epsom Racecourse on June 2, 2012.  Plenty of Union Jacks were in evidence as the crowds greeted the queen, who is a keen and knowledgeable expert on race horses.   It was the start of a special weekend that marks the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.  In London a 41-gun salute was fired by The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery.  Another 41-gun salute was fired at the Tower of London and 21-gun salutes were also carried out at Edinburgh Castle, Cardiff and Belfast.  Photos by Getty Images.
