King Juan Carlos I of Spain and Queen Sofia celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary.  On May 14, 1962, the Infante Juan Carlos married Princess Sophia of Greece, the eldest daughter of King Paul and Queen Frederika.  The couple wed in Athens in a Roman Catholic ceremony at the  Cathedral of St. Denis, and in a Greek Orthodox ceremony at the Metropolitan Cathedral.  Princess Sophia wore gown by the Greek designer Jean Dessés, and a veil worn previously worn her mother at her wedding.  In 1975, the couple ascended the throne of Spain and became King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia.  The couple have three children, Elena, Cristina and Felipe and six grandchildren.  Photos by Getty Images and Corbis.
