Seventy-four-year old King Juan Carlos of Spain tripped on stairs on April 13, 2012 in a chalet he was staying at in Botswana during a private visit hunting for elephants. He underwent hip replacement surgery after fracturing some bones. It was reported that the king had sustained “a fracture in three fragments of the right hip, associated with osteoarthritis of that joint.” The surgery took place in a Madrid hospital. This is the fourth surgery in nearly two years for the Spanish king. Photos by Getty Images.
