THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE OPENS THE TREEHOUSE CHILDREN’S HOSPICE & MAKES HER FIRST OFFICIAL SPEECH

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, officially opened The Treehouse Children’s Hospice on March 18, 2012 in Ipswich, England.  It marked the first time the Duchess of Cambridge made an official speech.  Catherine wore a Reiss dress that was seen on her mother in Ascot in 2010.  The duchess is patron of the charity, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), whose mandate is to support young people and children with life-threatening conditions throughout Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk  and Essex.   The duchess told volunteers and staff that, “What you do is inspirational.”  She went on to add of their work: “It is a shining example of the support and the care that is delivered, not just here, but in the children’s hospice movement at large, up and down the country…The feelings you inspire – feelings of love and of hope – offer a chance to families to live a life they never thought could be possible.”  Photos by Getty Images.
