CATHERINE, DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE ON HER FIRST SOLO ENGAGEMENT AS A ROYAL

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge  carried out her first solo engagement as a member of the British royal family on February 8, 2012 when she attended a preview of paintings at the National Portrait Gallery in London by the late Lucien Freud.  Some 130 pieces covering the the entire career of Freud from since the 1940s is on exhibit.  Last month, Catherine, who took a degree in art history from the University of St. Andrews, became patron of the National Portrait Gallery.  Photos by Getty Images.
