THE KING AND QUEEN OF BHUTAN ON AN OFFICIAL STATE VISIT TO JAPAN – DAY THREE

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema met with Japan’s Crown Prince Naruhito and the Empress Michiko at the Akasaka guest house in Tokyo on November 18, 2011, on the third day of the royal couple’s official state visit to Japan.  The King and Queen of Bhutan also visited a primary school in Soma, Fukushima Prefecture which had been hard hit by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.   The King told the students that he was visiting them on behalf of the people of Bhutan to bring encouragement and love.  The Queen added that she would like to return to the school the next time she comes on  a visit to Japan.   One of the students said the the royal couple’s visit gave the students “hope and encouragement.”
