PRINCESS MATHILDE OF BELGIUM AT LAST POST CEREMONY AT THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL

Princess Mathilde of Belgium, wife of Prince Philippe, heir to King Albert II of the Belgians, attended the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing in Ypres, Belgium on November 11, 2011, Armistice Day.  The memorial commemorates the soldiers from Great Britain and the British Empire (as it was then) who were killed in Ypres during the Great War and whose graves are unknown.  Since 1928, The Last Post has been played under the Menen Gate Memorial at 8 o’clock.

Visited the Menin Gate just a few weeks ago. Everyone should go at some point in their lives. Major respect to all involved in the upkeep of this important memorial, and the traditions upheld by all involved in the daily ceremony. God bless all those poor souls (on both sides) who died because politicians once again failed to do their jobs correctly. (shame on them)
