The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, according to The Daily Mail, are reportedly planning to take over the apartment of the late Princess Margaret in Kensington Palace.   Known as Apt. 1A, the large, four-story home is under the management of the Historic Royal Palaces charity.  Prince William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II has intervened to ensure that the couple will be able to live in the apartment.  When in London, William and Catherine have at their disposal, Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace.  Though the couple had looked at the former apartment of William’s mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales,  the Cambridges chose Apt. 1A as their future home.  Catherine reportedly liked the fact that it also had access to a private walled garden.  William and Catherine plan to move into their new London home in 2013 after extensive renovations are done that will cost some one million pounds to carry out.
