KING HARALD V AND QUEEN SONJA OF NORWAY ARRIVE IN MINNESOTA

King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway have arrived in Minnesota on October 11, 2011, to begin their tour of the U.S. which will take them to Iowa, Minnesota and New York.  The King and Queen, who arrived in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis-St. Paul), received a welcome at the St. Paul Hotel.  Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and former Vice President Walter Mondale as well as St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman were on hand to greet the royal couple.  The majority of residents of Minnesota are of Scandinavian (as well as German) descent.  The Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul is the fifteenth largest metropolitan area in the United States and is a major center of commerce.  Nineteen Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in the Twin Cities.   See the link below from The Star Tribune newspaper of Minnesota, showing King Harald and Queen Sonja arriving in St. Paul.
