THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE VISIT THE ROYAL MARSDEN HOSPITAL

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited The Royal Marsden Hospital in London on September 29, 2011 where they opened the new Oak Centre for Children and Young People.   William and Catherine met staff members and patients and greeted members of the public outside.  The Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the hospital wearing her large sapphire engagement ring but when she left, it was noticed that she was not wearing it.  It turned out that Catherine took her engagement ring off for hygiene reasons, as advised by hospital staff.  She placed the famous engagement ring in her clutch bag.  William had also been similarly advised by staff to take his jacket off, roll up his sleeves and tuck in his tie.
