POPE BENEDICT XVI VISITS KING JUAN CARLOS & QUEEN SOFIA AT THE ZARZUELA PALACE

Pope Benedict XVI visited King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain on August 19, 2011, at the couple’s home, the Zarzuela Palace, in the Spanish capital.   The Pope is in Madrid for World Youth Day, a celebration of the Catholic faith for the world’s youth.  World Youth Day is being held in Madrid this year where 1 million young people are participating in the event.   Joining the King and Queen at the Zarzuela Palace, were their son, Felipe, and his wife, Letizia, the Prince and Princess of the Asturias;  as well as Felipe and Letizia’s daughters, Infanta Leonor and Infanta Sofia.  Also present were the King and Queen’s eldest child, Infanta Elena, and her children, Felipe Juan Froilan Marichalar and Victoria Federica Marichalar.
