William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have moved into Kensington Palace, which they will be their London home. Previously, Prince William had been using rooms in Clarence House, along with his brother, Harry, when in London. Kensington Palace had been the home of Prince William when he was a child. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be living in modest accommodations in the palace and will continue to use their Anglesey home in northern Wales where William is stationed as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.
Kensington Palace has many royal associations. Queen Victoria was born there in 1819 and spent her childhood in the palace. More recently, it has also been the home of Princess Margaret; Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester; the Prince and Princess of Wales; the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester; and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
