THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE HAVE DONNED COWBOY HATS IN CALGARY, July 7, 2011
William and Catherine delighted crowd in Calgary when they arrived at an official government reception atop a horse-pulled stagecoach at the Stampede Grounds. In the spirit of the occasion, the couple wore cowboy hats and waved enthusiastically to the crowds.
“We have been hugely struck by the diversity of this beautiful country: from Ottawa to Quebec; from Prince Edward Island to the Northwest Territories; and now the excitement of Calgary. And what about these fantastic white hats,” said the Duke of Cambridge. “We have seen how geographical diversity is matched by the diversity of the people we have met: anglophone and francophone, first nation and new immigrant.”
Stephen Harper, Canada’s Prime Minsiter, announced the creation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Parks Canada Youth Ambassadors Program. It is special gift in honoring of the couple’s first royal tour of Canada and to mark as well, the 100th anniversary of the founding of Parks Canada.
