A NEW PERSONAL FLAG IS UNVEILED FOR PRINCE WILLIAM IN CANADA
Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada has unveiled a new personal flag for Prince William’s use during his nine day official tour of Canada. The flag was flown for the first time when William and Catherine arrived in Ottawa to begin their visit to the country. This is the first time since 1962 that Canada has created a flag for a member of the Royal Family. The Queen, Prince William’s grandmother, as Head of State of Canada, formally approved the creation and design of the flag.
Prime Minister Harper said that: “The flag is a testament to the special bond between Canada and the Royal Family and pays tribute to our shared history, traditions and institutions. It will be flown with great pride throughout the upcoming Royal Tour by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.”
