A PEEK AT THE UPCOMING VISIT TO CANADA & THE U.S. OF THE CAMBRIDGES

Excitement is building surrounding the upcoming visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Canada and the U.S.  It will be William and Catherine’s first official visit abroad, representing the Royal Family.  The Canadian leg of the tour is scheduled to take place between from June 30th until July 8th.  The U.S. leg of the tour will occur from July 8th to July 10th.

The trip begins in Ottawa, Canada’s capital on June 30th, where a wreath laying ceremony at the National War Memorial will be held.  An official welcome and a barbeque reception will also take place.

On July 1st the couple will help celebrate Canada Day and witness the swearing in of new Canadian citizens.  Sunday, July 3rd finds William and Catherine on a visit to Quebec City.  Here they will attend a prayer service and receive the freedom of the city.  Monday, July 4th, the couple will be in Prince Edward Island.  William will participate in a training session in a Sea King helicopter.  It looks like William and Catherine will also be joining Dragonboat Racers in a race across a lake.  The couple will likely be steering boats in opposition to each other.  This should make for an interesting subject for the photographers who will cover the event.

On July 5th, the couple will be in the Northwest Territories.  They will take part in Aboriginal activities, attend a youth parliament session and meet the First Canadian Patrol Group.  On July 7th, the Duke and Duchess arrive in Calgary where they will participate in the White Hat Ceremony, tour the University of Calgary Ward of the 21st Century Research and Innovation Centre, and attend a government of Canada reception.

On July 8th, William and Kate will officially open the world famous Calgary Stampede., attend a reception hosted by the government of Alberta, and then officially depart for the U.S.

Saturday, July 9th, finds the couple in Los Angeles, California.  There will be a charity polo match at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, and a formal black-tie reception hosted by the British Academy of Film & Television Arts.

On Sunday, July 9th, they will visit the Inner-City Arts School, go on a tour of Sony Studios, and attend the Service Nation: Mission Serve job fair for veterans.  It is clearly an activity packed schedule for the couple’s first official Canadian and U.S. tour.
