(1923) The Duke of York to the Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon

The great-grandparents of Prince William, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother chose Westminster Abbey for their nuptials.  On April 26, 1923, the then Prince Albert , Duke of York married Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, youngest daughter of the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne.  The bride wore a gown designed in medieval style.  The heavily beaded gown had a train of Nottingham lace which had been given to the bride by her mother-in-law, Queen Mary.
