(1919) Princess Patricia of Connaught to the Hon. Alexander Ramsay
For the first time in over six hundred years, Westminster Abbey became the site of a royal wedding when Princess Patricia, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria , through the queen’s son, Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught chose the historic abbey for her wedding. On February 27, 1919, Princess Patricia married an aide-de-camp of the Duke of Connaught, the Hon. Alexander Ramsay, a Commander in the Royal Navy and a son of the Earl of Dalhousie. The bride’s dress was of cloth of silver in a Venetian style.
