THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE VISITS SCHOOLS IN OXFORD, LETS SLIP THE NAME OF HER COCKER SPANIEL PUPPY

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, carried out another solo engagement when she visited two schools in Oxford, Rose Hill Primary School, where she donned a special pinny with the name ‘Miss Catherine’ embroidered on the front, and Oxford Spires Academy. Catherine visited the two schools to see the work of The Art Room, of which she is patron. The Art Room uses art therapy to build confidence and self-esteem in children. During her visit to Oxford, the Duchess of Cambridge let slip that the name of her black cocker spaniel puppy is Lupo, Italian for wolf. It turns out the brown wool coat dress with its pattern of birds by Irish designer, Orla Kiely, that Catherine wore, was popular with the public as copies of the dress sold sold out minutes after her appearance.

THE MILITARY PRINCES: WILLIAM IN THE FALKLANDS AND HARRY SOON OFF TO AFGHANISTAN

It has been recently announced that 27-year old Prince Harry has successfully completed a rigorous 18-month training course and has qualified to fly one of the most sophisticated of military aircrafts, the Apache helicopter. The prince finished at the top of his class of twenty, a singular achievement for him. Prince Harry may soon be sent to Afghanistan with 662 Squadron, part of the 3 Regiment Army Air Corps, based at Wattisham in Suffolk. “I really enjoy the army,” the prince is quoted as saying in an interview. “Anyone who says they don’t enjoy the army is mad. You can spend a week hating it and the next week it could be the best thing in the world and the best job you could ever, ever wish for. It has got so much to offer.” Harry’s brother, 29-year-old William, the Duke of Cambridge, is also a helicopter pilot. He is presently in the Falkland Islands on a six-week tour of duty with his RAF Search & Rescue squadron. It has been reported that rather than becoming a full-time working member of the royal family, William plans to remain in the military after his three-year tour of duty ends in mid-2013. Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge carried out her first solo engagement as a member of the British royal family on February 8, 2012 when she attended a preview of paintings at the National Portrait Gallery in London by the late Lucien Freud. Some 130 pieces covering the the entire career of Freud from since the 1940s is on exhibit. The following Prayer, written at The Queen’s direction by the Chapter of St Paul’s Cathedral for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee, will be used in the Jubilee Thanksgiving Service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Tuesday, 5th June 2012.
